I am a rather jovial and friendly person. I lived in the East and i have a rather happy family, my mum, my dad, my sister, my lovely miniature schnauzer( her size is rather larger than expected, and nonetheless me myself and I. I love to interact and make a lot of friends. However, something happened and i had changed drastically. My views changed, now people are much uglier when you become their friend or which they name you as their friends. Thank God, i still have a group of friends whom i sincerely reckoned them as my true buddies. Sylvester, Sophia, Mei Ling, Wei Sheng and Nicole.They are really the people who are with me through my toughest journey.

Despite of the reality in this world, there’s a dreamy girl who still dreams. My dream is to travel around the world with a camera in hand. I value the relationship between family and friends more than anything else in the world. If any of my friends needs a listening ear, I'll always be there for them.
I tend to be sensitive to my surrounding especially the relationship among people; however I can be very ignorant regarding matters towards myself. Like any other girls, I like to chat on the phone, msn, surf net and shopping. I also like outdoor activities, reading, interaction with other people and travelling.
Most of the time, I am unable to hide my feelings therefore, my friends always say that they are able to read me like a book. Well, I can be very stubborn and I hate to lose (to myself) on certain matter like studies because these are things that can be done if I strive for it. I am quite a soft hearted person therefore I hate people who cry because I tend to cry with them.

A cheerful and ambitious lady. Why have to call myself a lady? Coz I’m a mummy of a beautiful girl name Nicole.
Basically, I’m someone who cannot hide myself up, love to express what every I have. To me having secret is tiring therefore what I normally choose to do is forget whatever that is tiring to me. Due to this kind of attitude I can seen to be really forgetful at times.
To me life is weak, we may be here now and gone the very next second therefore respect, love and be grateful of what one have is very important. But I maybe very straight towards feeling and can be bias at time.
Weakness: I cannot stand tears, tears win every war to me, I may look strong but I have soft heart. Therefore if one would like to win me will never go too hard on me, as what they get in return is a harder side of me.

My Reflection on the field trip to ALB (Guang Min)
On the 28th NOv 2008, we went to the Army Logistics Base (ALB) with the whole cohort of LOM students. This is my first time visiting a logistics company felt so eager to see how it looks like. After a long bus ride, we finally reached our destination. We were warmly welcome by the management of ALB. We went straight to the auditorium an was briefly introduced to the world of logistics. Followed by the refreshments:)
After filling our stomach we were all ready to explore our future world. We were guided by one of the stuff to view the place. 1st destination, the first landing we were showed to 3 different types of racking systems. Firstly, was the Pallet Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems it was HUGE and i was truly awed by the 18th story high racking system. Secondly, was introduced to the Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) a system operated by the automated guided forklift. this was cool. Thirdly, Powered Mobile Storage system, the rack can be closed and open when needed, therefore it is used for long term storage. it was really humid though.
We then was guided to our second destination, the 3rd landing. When we reached, a gush of cool air pass through me. We were introduced to two other kind of racking system. Oh the air-con is for the medical supplies which we were intro to the Vertical Carousel a 74 layered conveyor system helps store smaller supplies. Cool. Then we were introduced to the Adjustable Pallet Racking System which is then used to store bulkier goods.
Third destination, 4th landing of the building. we we introduced to a different type of ASRS it is smaller but higher than the first of that we have seens
In conclusion, it is an awesome experience for us whereby our knowledge towards logistics have expanded.

Reflection for LOM Fieldtrip to ALB (by Delia)
On the 28th of November 2009, the whole LOM students are schedule to go on a field trip to Army Logistics Base (ALB) located at old Chua Chu Kang Road. It was a long journey there, lucky the bus ride was comfortable. When we reached there, that is where the fun part began.
We were guided to the auditorium where a brief introduction of their operations like Material Management service, Receipt Service, Storage Service, Issue Process and Distribution Service was given to us. After the introduction, we are given a chance to tour around the 5 operational areas in the warehouse.
Before stepping into the warehouse, I have already looked at the model of the warehouse. From the model, it clearly show that it is a through flow as the loading and unloading area are located at the two ends of the warehouse.
At the 1st floor is the Pallet Automated Storage & Retrieval System (ASRS), it is
18 storey high which is approximately 30m, have 6 cranes to place the pallet
into location. And it is capable to contain about of 13,500 pallets.
At the Very Narrow Aisle (VNA), they demonstrate a VNA forklift a wired
guided system which follows a thin wire on the floor to stack the pallet into place. I am very amazed by how it works.
The Powered Mobile Storage (mobile racking) is used to store low
throughput and long term storage purpose product. The aisle space can be open up when needed and the height of the rack is adjustable according.
At the 3rd floor, there is an area for medical which is air condition. The Vertical Carousel have 74 layers of shelving in the conveyor system, it is used to store the medical supplies as it is meant for small and humidity control items.
Both the powered mobile racking and vertical carousel will cause an alarm and stop immediately if it discovers any human presence during operation. This is a measure to ensure the safety of workers.
I also notice that there is Adjustable Pallet Racking in the warehouse whereby goods are bundle up together on the pallet and place on the rack.
At the 4th floor is the bin ASRS which is length 84m, width 13m and height of 9m. It is used to store vehicle part which is smaller than pallet. A total of 5 cranes and is able to go to a maximum of 60 bins per hour per crane.
Each warehouse height is approximately from 9m, 12m and 30m.
 They have 2 laser guided vehicles; however they are under maintenance when we visit. It is able to use anywhere to carry goods from one location to another. By programming the laser guided vehicle, it is able to perform the duties even after operating hours.
Overall, the whole trip is very beneficial to me as the chance of visiting a real warehouse doesn’t come to us that often. The knowledge gained from the book and the real life experience is very different.
Around the warehouse, I am impressed as the goods are very organize, the floor is litter free, very good lighting and ventilation, and the safety measures that are imply in the warehouse.
In conclusion, I really learn a lot from this experience and hope to look forward to another chance of fieldtrip again.

ALB has a site size of 95 000sq/m and have inventory as much as 12 football field. The flow that they have gotten to suit into the system is through flow and having a 14 ½ years long of contract have let them put in full power in maintenance the resource and also having this contract instead of the previous 3 years contract have let the company to invent in funds to build this warehouse.
Having a different height limit for different parts of the warehouse let them have a various method of using the storage system from a storage system that is 10m up to 30m height.
Some of the functions are material management, receipt service, storage service, armament, distribution service and other distribution channels.To suit into their many different functions that they have they will need to have many different kinds of storage system to help them up. Some of the storage system that are used by them are automated storage & retrieval system (ASRS), powered mobile storage, high rack narrow aisle racking, carousel system, etc. Some of the MHEs that can be found in use at the inbound and outbound of ALB are forklift truck, side-loader.
Having inventory as much as 12 football field is not easy to handle therefore having good housekeeping is very important, some of the criteria for having good housekeeping are ensure warehouse premises look orderly and neat, tidiness and conducive environment, good lighting and ventilation.Personally I think they have done a very good job in keeping their place clean and near. The few hours that we are there we did not really see stock flying around the warehouse and the place has been kept really clean and near.
The basic steps that they will use in their goods issue process are:
They will all start from having STO/MO and every 2 hours they will have new order fulfilment and they will print out the sub issue vouchers. The sub issue vouchers will have all the picking detail that is needed for example the quantity and where is the item located at, so that it will help to reduce the time taken, as if the location is not being stated they maybe need more time to find out the location of the items. After picking up the item the delivery note will be issue before the delivery and the delivery can be all over Singapore. Over here at this stage milk run will be done. At the end of the day, they will need to update the receipt and status.
